Feast of Saint Padre Pio Celebrated at Saint Anne’s Friary, Mangalore.

Mangalore, September 23, 2025: The Feast of Saint Padre Pio was solemnly celebrated at the Saint Padre Pio Shrine, Saint Anne’s Friary, Jail Road, Mangalore. A large gathering of devotees came together in prayer and devotion to honor the beloved saint, known worldwide for his deep spirituality, stigmata, and unwavering faith .This year’s theme was “Saint Padre Pio: Pilgrim of the Cross, Messenger of Hope.”

Eucharistic Celebration

The solemn Eucharistic Mass was presided over by Rev. Dr. Rajesh Rosario, Rector of Saint Joseph’s Seminary, Jeppu, along with over 30 concelebrating priests. The lively participation of the faithful made the celebration spiritually enriching. A special highlight was the soulful choir led by Mr. Joe Rodrigues and the Padre Pio Choir, which enhanced the liturgical atmosphere.

Release of Publications and Calendar

Following the Mass, three important publications were released under the Capuchin Publication Trust:

  • “Ten Green Commandments” – translated by Fr. George D’Souza (Chikkamagaluru Diocese), encouraging ecological responsibility from a faith perspective.
  • Daily Bible – Capuchin Bible Diary 2026 – featuring daily Scripture texts and reflections for spiritual nourishment.
  • 2026 Divine Mercy Retreat Centre Calendar – presenting key liturgical dates and spiritual themes for the year ahead.

Honouring Achievers and Donors

The celebration also acknowledged outstanding local achievers:

  • Remona Evette Pereira, final-year BA student of St Aloysius College, was honored for her 170-hour Bharatanatyam performance, earning her a place in the Golden Book of World Records — the first in the world to achieve this feat.
  • Aashna Jewel Dsouza was felicitated for being crowned Miss India Astral 2025. She will proudly represent India at Miss Universe Celestial 2026.

Donors and benefactors who supported the feast were also warmly recognized and thanked for their generosity.

Conclusion and Fellowship

In his concluding message, Rev. Fr. Jerald Lobo, Guardian of the Capuchin community at Saint Anne’s Friary, expressed heartfelt gratitude to clergy, donors, volunteers, and devotees for making the feast a spiritually enriching and meaningful celebration.
