In the aftermath of the deadly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu confirmed that the Ministry of Civil Aviation has issued strict instructions to all airline operators not to hike airfares. The attack, which unfolded at 3 PM on Tuesday, resulted in the deaths of 26 people. 

“We are constantly making efforts to ensure safe travel of tourists from Srinagar,” said Mr Naidu. “Strict instructions were given to airline companies to avoid any fare surges. Fares are being monitored and kept at reasonable levels.”

'Reiterate Commitment To Fight Against Terrorism': Bangladesh On J&K Attack

Pakistan has so far tried to deny a role in the attack even as it continues to push terror into India in a bid to create instability and division in the country, especially when tourism has picked up in Jammu and Kashmir.

The statement comes after several world leaders condemned the terror attacks.

Bangladesh has “strongly condemned” the terror attack in Pahalgam, a statement issued nearly 24 hours after the attack.

A statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh on its handle on social media platform X this afternoon said, “Bangladesh strongly condemns the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir in India resulting in the tragic loss of innocent lives”.

Delhi’s air quality remained in the ‘poor’ category

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, warning of a potential severe heatwave from April 24 to 26. Daytime temperatures are expected to hover between 41 and 43 degrees Celsius, staying 2 to 4 degrees above normal across several parts of the capital.

After a brief dip on Tuesday, when the maximum temperature settled at 39.9 degrees Celsius – two degrees above normal – the mercury will likely climb again from Wednesday. Monday saw the season’s hottest day, with temperatures reaching 41.3 degrees Celsius. The minimum temperature on Tuesday was 20.9 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal.

“Maximum temperatures are likely to rise over Delhi by 2-3 degrees Celsius over the next five days,” the IMD said. Heatwave conditions are likely to intensify between Thursday and Saturday, with most areas witnessing extreme daytime heat.

Indore Resident Killed, Daughter Injured In Pahalgam Terror Attack

A resident of Indore lost his life in the terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

According to police, Sushil Nathaniel, his wife and two children went to Jammu and Kashmir for a vacation.

On Tuesday evening, a terrorist opened fire on the family, fatally wounding Mr Nathaniel. His body will reach Indore at 8.15 pm on Wednesday by Air India flight.

Mr Nathaniel’s daughter, Akanksha, sustained a gunshot wound to her leg but survived. The terrorists asked Mr Nathaniel about his religion and demanded that he recite a specific prayer.

Neeraj Udhwani, a 33-year-old resident of Jaipur, was among the victims of the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22. His body is expected to arrive in Jaipur later tonight.

Neeraj, who lived in Forest View Residency, Model Town (Malviya Nagar), was on vacation in Kashmir with his wife when terrorists opened fire on tourists in Baisaran Valley, a popular spot in Pahalgam.

While Neeraj lost his life in the attack, his wife, who was at the hotel at the time, survived unharmed. She informed the family of the tragedy.

Quick Action By Staff Prevents Train Accident On Konkan Railway Route

The defect on the track was swiftly fixed, and by 5.58 am, a track-fit certificate was issued with a speed restriction.

Both trains remained stationary until the track defect was rectified.

Udupi (Karnataka):

A potential disaster was avoided on the Konkan Railway route near Udupi, thanks to the vigilance of track maintainer Pradeep Shetty. In the early hours of Sunday, at 2.25 am, Shetty discovered a track weld failure between Innanje and Padubidri. He promptly reported the defect to the concerned officials, preventing a possible train mishap.

The defect on the track was swiftly fixed, and by 5.58 am, a track-fit certificate was issued with a speed restriction of 20 kmph for trains running on it.

Santosh Kumar Jha, Chairman and Managing Director of Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL), recognised Shetty’s quick action and announced an immediate cash award of Rs 25,000. The award was presented to Shetty at the restored track site later in the afternoon.
