New Delhi, May 9: As military tensions surged following Pakistan’s failed aerial offensive, External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar launched a series of diplomatic outreach efforts late Thursday night, engaging with top officials from the United States, Italy, and the European Union to brief them on India’s firm yet measured stance against cross-border terrorism.

During his call with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, EAM Jaishankar underscored India’s “targeted and measured” response, affirming that the country would “firmly counter any attempts at escalation.” He extended his appreciation to Washington for its consistent support in combating terrorism.

In a statement, the US State Department reaffirmed its commitment to stand with India in the fight against terror. Secretary Rubio expressed deep condolences for the recent terror attack in Pahalgam and stressed the importance of immediate de-escalation.
